IESG-M52

An eight-channel LoRaWAN gateway for the inside of a building. It receives every LoRaWAN meter and sensor on the site and forwards them to the platform over whatever network it is given, Ethernet or Wi-Fi, with power over the same Ethernet cable if you want it. It is the piece that makes the LoRaWAN meters work.

What it is

The radio side of a LoRaWAN metering system

LoRaWAN meters transmit a few bytes at a time over distances Wi-Fi cannot manage; this is what listens. It sits inside the building, takes power and a network from an Ethernet port, and forwards every frame it hears to the platform's network server. Where there is no network on site it pairs with the IESG-R250 or IESG-R256, or the IESG-M52-4G carries its own SIM.

  1. Receives on eight channels at once, from SF7 to SF12, so many meters share one gateway
  2. Forwards frames to the platform's LoRaWAN network server over an outbound, authenticated connection
  3. Takes power over Ethernet from a standard 802.3af port, or from the supplied 12 V adaptor
  4. Backhauls over Ethernet by preference and falls back to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi
  5. Reports its own status, so you can tell a quiet meter from a missing gateway

The gateway on the router's Ethernet port, receiving three LoRaWAN meters in outbuildings and passing their frames to the platform through the IESG-R256. It needs power and a route out: the router gives it the route, and a PoE injector or the supplied adaptor gives it power.
Scenario 01 · outbuildings

Cover the whole site from one point

Sited high in the main building, one gateway receives meters in barns, workshops and plant rooms hundreds of metres away. The meters need no network of their own.

Scenario 02 · existing lan

On the customer's network

Where the site has Ethernet and the customer is happy to give it a port, the gateway needs nothing else. All connections are outbound, so no inbound rules or fixed address are needed.

Scenario 03 · outdoors

Move it outside when walls are the problem

Fitted in the IESG-M52-ODK on a pole or external wall, with one PoE cable back to an injector indoors, the same gateway covers a wide site with an external antenna.

Software and firmware

Configured for the platform's network server before it ships, with the frequency plan, forwarder and credentials set, so it comes up online at first power-on. Open firmware underneath, so nothing is tied to a vendor cloud.

Documentation and support

A siting guide in your name, written for the installer who has to pick a spot for it, and a support route back to us that your customer never sees.
